EMCOR Services Aircond Receives Design-Build Award

EMCOR Subsidiary Honored For Creative and Innovative Work

SMYRNA, GA -- October 18, 2006 -- EMCOR SERVICES Aircond , the largest commercial and industrial heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) service company in the Southeast, has received a 2006 Design/Build Award from Contracting Business magazine, a leading national publication which each year honors the most creative and innovative work being done by commercial HVAC contractors nationwide.

Aircond was cited for its work at a major food container manufacturing facility in Thomaston, Georgia owned by Duni Group. The project was a runner-up in the category of "Retrofit/Renovation: More than $1 Million."

Aircond is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., (NYSE: EME) a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses globally.

"A leading global company in trend-setting food service concepts, Duni's production requirements had outgrown its existing equipment," noted Alan Barnes, Jr., President of Aircond. "We were able to help the company expand its capacity, while upgrading its 20-year-old systems. The result is a highly reliable and efficient plant that provides a much improved working environment."

According to Babu Kuruville, Duni's Plant Engineering Manager, "The expansion of our facility presented an opportunity to consider alternative HVAC designs instead of just adding capacity. Aircond provided workable solutions that enabled us to realize improved performance and greater efficiencies for the entire system."

The Duni plant in Thomaston consists of approximately 78,500 square feet of production area, 70,000 square feet of warehouse storage space and 16,000 square feet of offices. Expansion of the production area into the 70,000 square foot warehouse necessitated a retrofit of the plant's HVAC system.

Aircond recommended converting the existing DX rooftop system to a 1200-ton chilled water plant with CHW air turnover units in the manufacturing area, variable air terminal units in the office area, and 300 tons dedicated for multi-temperature process cooling loops. The entire system is controlled by a sophisticated building automation system (BAS), greatly increasing efficiency while maintaining individual comfort levels for the different areas of the facility.
